BuyOut — Image rights / Rights of use

BuyOuts refer to the contractually agreed right of use that the client acquires in order to be able to use image and/or video material for certain purposes for a specified period of time. The staff and the agency therefore transfer the previously defined rights to the material to the end customer. The end customer pays for the BuyOuts in order to exercise their rights of use.
As a rule, spatial, temporal and content-related terms of use are defined for the buy-outs.
These restrictions on use must be set out in a contract. If the client decides to use the image rights beyond this, the image rights must be renegotiated, otherwise there is a risk of severe contractual penalties.
